New 18-hole park golf course to open at World Cup Park in September

A new 18-hole park golf course is set to open at Noeul Park inside World Cup Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Combined with the existing 18-hole first course that has been in operation since 2010, the park will offer a total of 36 holes — a scale the Seoul Metropolitan Government says is large enough to host national-level tournaments and other major competitions.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said the second park golf course at Noeul Park will open Sept. 1, with online reservations available starting Tuesday on a first-come, first-served basis.

The second course covers approximately 22,000 square meters and features 18 holes — Course A with nine holes (par 33, 535 meters) and Course B with nine holes (par 33, 575 meters) — for a combined par of 66 over 1,110 meters.

Construction was completed in December last year, after which the turf underwent a stabilization period. Irrigation and top-dressing work continued for about eight months this year. The facility also includes a 123-square-meter clubhouse with heating and cooling, restrooms and six pergolas.

The second course will be closed every Monday and will operate in three daily sessions, accommodating up to 216 visitors per day. Summer hours run from 8:10 a.m. to 5:40 p.m., while spring and autumn hours are 9 a.m. to 5:10 p.m.

Admission for adults is 4,000 won per 18-hole round and 8,000 won for two rounds. Those 65 and older, people with disabilities and national merit recipients are eligible for a 50 percent discount under Seoul's urban parks ordinance.

"We will operate the course so that citizens can enjoy healthy leisure while taking in the open scenery and gardens of Noeul Park," said Park Mi-seong, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's West Park and Leisure Center.
